A couple weeks ago, I noticed a rash starting on Matthew's face by his mouth. I figured it was probably something along the lines of ringworm again so I started treating for a few days. After a few days it appeared worse, not better. So I figured a trip to acute care was in order. We ended up seeing a doctor who've I had before for work related injuries, so all and all, I like the guy. He said it looked like contact dermititis and I should use some cortaid on it. Figures. I go in and then have to pick up something over the counter. I did give the Dr. my recollection of Matthew's hx: MRSA, rectal strep, thrush, pneumonia, RSV, other staph infections... the whole 9 yards. The kid is a walking disaster when it comes to microorganisms. I feel so bad for him. One little scrape can easily turn into bad news. So I go home and put him on the hydrocortizone for 10 days and cleared him up. Yesterday I gave him a bath at his dad's house. Did my usual routine, let him play in the tub for awhile with his bath toys and thought life was good. After he got out of the tub I noticed spots starting to form on his face again. :( I was so upset. I did some thinking about it after I took him home and starting thinking maybe the bath tub just wasn't clean enough. So I thought about it some more and figured it must be the toys.... they are bacteria traps just waiting for a nice place to happen. I have since thrown all his tub toys away here and had his Dad do the same. I always wondered if I'd ever be able to have the critical nursing skills needed to survive nursing. Well in this case, I do. I was telling my mom about it and she said she wouldn't have even thought of that.
