Peace of Mind/Second Opinion

So I'm still not totally sold on Matthew's condition: developmentally delayed. Some doc's say he's in the Autism spectrum, the school says he's close to Autistic but won't label him that so he's stuck that way for life.

So I heard from my sister's neighbor that she's got some friends that also had a little kid that wasn't talking and whatnot, speech delayed. She took her child to Midwest Ear, Nose and Throat... to have him checked out. I think they put tubes in or something but in a week's time the child was a whole different person, talking and everything.

So for my peace of mind and really a second, third or 4th opinion, because I've seen a lot of people over the past couple of years, I'm going to take Matthew there in August, actually on his b-day to see what they have to say.

Wouldn't that be something if all he needed was something that had to do with his ears?

Sometimes you'd swear he can't hear you, which I know he can, but he tone of voice sounds like a deaf child's. His speech therapist doesn't think there's anything wrong in that aspect. I still have my doubts. The way he recites his ABC's, isn't very clear and it's not in a real song type, he just says them.

Oh well, maybe nothing will come of this appointment either, but doesn't hurt to try.

It's always was mind boggling to sit somewhere and watch 1 1/2- 2 year old little boys talk and then look at your own almost 4 year old son that has so much trouble.

There has GOT TO BE a reason for it other than developmentally delayed. That's just a reason for basically "we just don't really know why he is the way he is so we'll call him that."
