My 1st post of 2015. :)
It's "Souper Bowl" week for the kids at school. They bring cans of soups and what not the week before the big football game and it gets donated to the food pantry. Great idea getting our kids involved in helping people in need in our community.
Yesterday happened to be tomato soup day (suggested flavor of the day), so I did my duty as a parent and sent along a can of tomato soup with Matthew.
He informs me when he gets home from school that I need to buy more tomato soup, so I asked him why? He says he likes tomato soup. Well that's news to me. I've NEVER seen him eat tomato soup. Had I made it for him, I'm sure he wouldn't have even taken a bite of it.
So that got me wondering... how on earth does this kid like tomato soup? I decided to do some investigating. He never outright tells me these things like most kids would.
I asked him when he's had tomato soup before and I don't get much of an answer out of him. Finally, he tells me it was when he had a grilled cheese sandwich at school.
It's not often Matthew eats school lunch but I figured if grilled cheese sandwiches come with tomato soup at school, he'd leave the soup and take just the sandwich. I come to find out that in order to get CRACKERS with your meal on that day, he HAD to take the tomato soup. That's what he told me. Smart kid.
It all makes sense now. He knows how to work the system. Therefore, I'm sure someone told him as school he HAD to at least try the soup before he could be excused.
Turns out, it wasn't that bad. I'm sure he pictures it as a "ketchup soup" so it's all good with him.
Because he can't eat anything without ketchup. lol
