Since moving into our home, almost 2 years ago, I've basically set up camp on our dining room table with my computer. We chose a smaller house because our little family of 3 didn't need all the extra bells and whistles a bigger house boasts. Plus our house payment is well below what most people pay for rent, and 1/3 of what people pay for a typical mortgage.
However, what our house lacks, is a proper office space.
Sean has mentioned I should put a little desk in the living room, but at the time I didn't want to go get another tiny desk that you'd buy from Walmart made out of compressed fake wood. So I pushed the idea aside. Well, I decided since I'm going to start raising puppies, I really do need a proper desk area. So I went to Pinterest and got a lot of great ideas. I decided to look for a tiny old desk or make one from scratch that basically was a table top of a couple of boards and some legs, which wouldn't leave any room for storage. Well then my Dad had this great idea of me taking my old desk that I used as a kid and use that. It happened to be the perfect size and everything for the little space I could utilize. I definitely don't want to hang out in the basement at the Walmart desk I have down there, and I couldn't possibly have an office space in my bedroom, so I knew this would be perfect. :)
So Sean and I got to work on the desk after my Dad fixed the drawers. We prefer stain over paint. Oh and I found the most perfect chair too, removed the stain, and basically poly'd it for a natural result and added an old Alfalfa seed sack as a chair cushion. Like I told my Mom, it's crazy how much more meaningful things become in your 30's. I'd rather have the old stuff vs the new stuff, because new stuff just doesn't last like it should. :( Plus, when you use something that you had as a kid and repurpose it, it means way more to you than my 20 year old self could ever understand.
Here are the results:

| At this point, I wasn't too sure if I was happy with what we had done, turns out I just needed to poly it and get it in the house! |
